On August 31 and September 1, the town of Bran will host a special cultural event organized by Atelier de creație By Ionela Bran together with the Poarta Dorului Association, funded by the Brașov County Council. The MESTERI ȘI MOCANI LA POARTA DORULUI Festival is an authentic celebration of the shepherding traditions and folk crafts, aimed at enhancing the cultural offerings of the Bran-Moeciu-Fundata area and bringing local identity to the forefront.
The main goal of this large-scale event is to enrich the cultural offerings of the Bran-Moeciu-Fundata area and to highlight traditional clothing and folk traditions, with a focus on the shepherding culture, as defining elements of the local identity. In a modern world where traditions seem to be gradually fading, it is essential to remember and promote our cultural roots so that they do not fall into oblivion. The event aims to revitalize shepherding traditions, bringing them to the attention of the community and visitors, while also providing an ideal setting for socializing and enjoyment.
The event will take place on both days from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and will include:
- Workshops for children (sewing, weaving, glass painting, and clay modeling) with a minimum of 10 children per workshop per day.
- A folk show (music and traditional dances) featuring both established artists and young debutants.
- A presentation of traditional costumes from the area and other regions of the country, accompanied by explanations about the folk motifs and techniques used to create the costumes, offering an applied ethnography lesson for the public.
- A fashion show by designer Ionela Bran, featuring contemporary clothing pieces inspired by traditional costumes.
- An exhibition of handcrafted products made by renowned artisans.
MESTERI ȘI MOCANI LA POARTA DORULUI is more than just a cultural festival; it is an invitation to discover and experience the authentic traditions of the heart of Romania.
