In honor of the illustrious voivode Ioan de Hunedoara, it is announced that the 4th edition of the Medieval Festival “Ioan de Hunedoara” will take place at Corvin Castle, within its ancient and historic walls, on August 31 and September 1.
The Medieval Festival “Ioan de Hunedoara” aims to offer visitors a journey through time, recreating the atmosphere of the medieval era in a fairy-tale setting. For two days, you will enjoy medieval music echoing history, forgotten crafts, and fierce battles, all arranged as follows:
Saturday, August 31, 2024:
- 11:30 AM - 2:00 PM: Interactive workshops: life as a guard, medieval dances, defensive combat techniques for protecting maidens, drum rhythms, flag/dragon juggling, fairy dances.
- 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM: Cannon salutes in honor of ancestors, ancient music recital in the Castle’s inner courtyard, medieval technique presentation with battle scenes, magician’s workshop, life of a medieval mercenary.
- 7:30 PM - 8:00 PM: Medieval parade route: Dacia Blvd – Corvin Castle.
- 8:30 PM - 9:00 PM: Knightly Orders Salute, medieval rhythms.
- 9:00 PM - 10:00 PM: Baroque music recital by A.T.A.C., medieval music at Terra Alba.
- 10:00 PM: Fire show by the Order of Solomonars.
- 10:30 PM: Torch retreat.
Sunday, September 1, 2024:
- 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM: Interactive workshops: Fairy dances, virtues of a guard, medieval dances, defensive combat techniques for protecting maidens, drum rhythms, flag/dragon juggling, life of a medieval mercenary.
- 5:00 PM - 8:20 PM: Cannon salutes in honor of ancestors, festival guards reunion, fairy dances, magician’s workshop, virtues of a guard, Transylvanian myths, medieval technique presentation with battle scenes.
- 8:20 PM - 9:00 PM: Medieval music concert at Terra Alba.
- 9:00 PM - 10:00 PM: Medieval rhythms, medieval dances, and combat techniques.
- 10:00 PM - 11:00 PM: Concert by PROCONSUL.
- 11:00 PM: Torch retreat.
The Saturday evening parade (7:30 PM) will follow this route: Departure from Dacia Blvd (from the Cora area towards Rusca roundabout, Park Place) - Corvin pedestrian area - George Enescu St. - Libertății Blvd - Iancu de Hunedoara Square - Cloșca St. - C-tin Bursan St. - Castle St. - Husarilor Courtyard.
